About Selesa

The name Selesa, means 'comfortability' in Bahasa Malaysia. It is a word that comes to our mind when we were thinking about what kinda clothes do we want to design for our community.

Selesa is a sustainable womenswear label with hand-tailored pieces that come in small batches. We carefully handle the whole process from design to fabrication. We create a thoughtful, minimal style that could last for long in the wardrobe for mindful women. Each piece is crafted with attention to quality and comfort.

Selesa would aim to promote #SlowFashion in Malaysia. We work with our artisanal designer and tailor, Moon, who is also a 6 years Fashion Designer from patterning to tailoring. Her designs help guide our tailor communities made of refugee and underserved women to produce our designs in small batches.

In the long run, we aim to empower local tailors in Malaysia and Vietnam to participate in the production process with proper guidance. To join the Slow Fashion movement, we want to make sure they are paid equally for their work. Hence, every piece of cloth also goes into a small effort in empowering the local workforce.
